NEVADA YOUTH CROSS COUNTRY CHALLENGE – RACE 2
Saturday, October 24, 2020
Floyd Lamb Park, Las Vegas, Nevada
On Saturday, October 24, 2020, four Las Vegas Elite Runners ran in the Nevada Youth Cross Country Challenge – Race 2 at Floyd Lamb Park.
This week we introduce you to Kailere Joseph. Kailere is a wonderful young lady and a talented first year runner. She discovered long distance running through “Girls on the Run”, a national program that requires participants to run a 5K at the end of the program. After being inactive the past eight months due to the pandemic and being in the house for online school with little to no extracurricular activities, Kailere’s mother looked for a running club that could build upon Kailere’s newfound joy for running. On Saturday, Kailere competed in the Womens 11-12, 3K race. With this being her first competitive race, we asked her to have fun, not walk and to finish the race. To our delight, she did each and ran an incredibly good race and time. What brought joy to the coaches is that she enjoyed the experience. Outstanding job Kailere!!! Keep up the good work!
In other races, Jasiah Davis finished first in the Mens 8U, 2K and Roland Johns-Clemmons finished second. Great job by our two youngest runners! They continue to set an excellent example and bring joy, fun and a smile to our practices and meets.
Christoph Clemmons competed in the Mens 9-10, 3K race and he turned in a much improved race than last week. Mentally and physically he was 100% better and ran at a pace that resulted in 1 minute being cut off his previous time. Kudos Christoph for having a good practice week and race!
