LaTisha was born in Valdosta, GA and raised in Las Vegas in a military family. Discipline, academics, athletics and giving back were common norms at home that shaped her character today and are a big reason why she transitioned into coaching.
LaTisha was gifted physically at a youthful age. Many of her high school peers, to her father’s chagrin (LOL), admired her physique and wondered if she was a body builder because she had “GUNS”, as they say for biceps. This was the result of many push ups that were routine in her household. It made LaTisha very fit and translated to her gift of SPEED! Even though she tore her ACL between junior and senior year of high school, LaTisha achieved many successes, such as: Junior Olympic Qualifier, 4×100 Conference, Regional & Nevada State Champion; 4×200 Conference, Regional & Nevada State Champion; 4×400 Conference, Regional & Nevada State Champion; 4×400 Nevada State record holder and Girls Track and Field Nevada State Team Champion.
After high school, LaTisha garnered academic and athletic scholarships and went on to run at SW Oregon. She now enters the coaching arena with desires to help young athletes achieve success in track and field and exceed her accomplishments.
Throughout my running career I gained the knowledge of every event in track and field because Coach Cheltenham introduced my bothers and I to the basic technique of each event even if we didn’t specialize in it. Can you imagine I made it to the Junior Olympics in the javelin?!? Well I did. LoL.
My goal as a coach is to cultivate dedication, drive, determination and heart! I have a passion for this sport because my family, myself and my children have been keeping this little legacy going. I don’t expect you to always be the best, I want you to give your best!
