Coach, Track and Field
DeVon grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada and at an early age running found him. Much like his siblings, he excelled at running the moment he stepped on the track. He and his twin brother Stepfon, formed a one, two punch in the 800m and 1600m that caught everyone’s attention.
DeVon initially started as a Bantam and mostly ran unattached. He also ran for the MLK Blasters, Allegra, Wings of Pegasus and finished club sports with the Las Vegas Elite Runners where he was a Junior Olympian. After competing nationally and completing a stellar career at the junior high school level as the 2nd ranked middle-distance runner and 3rd ranked cross-country runner in Southern Nevada, DeVon moved up to high school competition where he was a 3-time state qualifier in cross country and a 2-time state qualifier in high school track and field in 2002 and 2004. This led to a cross country scholarship at Holy Names University in Oakland Hills, California.
I was privileged to have been coached by the best, which has helped me develop key skills in coaching and training. Personally, I felt running was an outlet and a way to grow as an athlete and person. Through coaching, I hope to help athletes discover themselves and have a positive outlet to escape to. As a child, I had the opportunity to witness my older brother and sister win multiple Nevada State Team Championships. This is my desire for Las Vegas Elite Runners. I also have goals to promote teamwork, dedication and competitiveness within our athletes, that will foster well-rounded athletes both mentally and physically.
