November 2019

On November 24, 2019, the Las Vegas Elite Runners traveled to Escondido, California  to participate in the USATF Cross Country Regional Championships.  With a field of runners that included the very best from Las Vegas, San Diego and Los Angeles, our runners faced their stiffest competition of the year with a trip to the National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships in Madison, Wisconsin being the prize for a top 30 or lower finisher. Achieving this goal would not be easy because every runner that steps to the starting line believes

On November 16, 2019, the Las Vegas Elite Runners participated in the USATF Nevada Association Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships to advance to the Region 15 Championships in Escondido, CA. The following Las Vegas Elite Runners advanced: Roland Johns-Clemmons (U8)  Christoph Clemmons (U8)  Jordan Gowdy (9-10)  Lilianah Davis (11-12)  Jeramiah Davis (13-14)  Kaiyah Davis-Mitchell (15-16)  Congratulations!!!

On Sunday November 10, 2019, the Las Vegas Elite Runners participated in the San Diego RoadRunners Cross Country meet and got a glimpse of the regional course. The course at Kit Carson Park offered a nice variation of dirt, grass, soft gravel and concrete running surfaces. The shaded trees, two cascading hills and a long-fast downhill drop presented a nice challenge for our runners. For the second year in a row, the Las Vegas Elite Runners participated in the Danny Gans Memorial Champions Run For Life in support of the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation (NVCCF) who assist families with children diagnosed with a debilitating disease or critical illness and adults touched by cancer. LVER participates in this event because it is for a great cause, is well run and presents an outstanding, festive environment for our kids. Most importantly, everyone offered positive words of encouragement and praise to each other. Please visit www.nvccf.org for

As we journey through life, we sometimes find ourselves experiencing the unexpected that brings a smile to our face. On this Saturday, on the first weekend of November 2nd, I went to see the Las Vegas Elite Runners. It was not a Las Vegas Elite Runners athlete that caught my attention or a top finisher on this day, it was a Flyin Kiwis runner in the boys 9-10 race.  While I do not know his name, he left a profound impact on me. Why? Because he was repeating the Lord’s Prayer over and
